Ministry data: 4,337 Ukrainians remain in Russian captivity

Ukraine’s official data lists 3,574 Ukrainian military personnel and 763 civilians among those currently held in Russian captivity.

Ukraine’s Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories says 4,337 Ukrainians remain in Russian captivity. Of those, 3,574 are military individuals and 763 civilians.

The Ministry’s Commission on the Issues of Establishing the Fact of Personal Freedom Deprivation as a Result of Armed Aggression Against Ukraine has conducted eight sessions to verify the detention of 4,337 individuals, with the outcomes being recorded in the Unified Registry of Detainees, according to the Ministry.

In an interview with Ukrainski Novyny published in August, Andrii Yusov, the representative of the Defense Ministry’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, said Ukraine has also managed to return more than 2,500 servicemen and -women from Russian captivity since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
