Six civilians killed, including two children, in Russian attacks on Ukraine’s oblasts


On 21 July, Russian forces launched missiles into Chernihiv Oblast in northern Ukraine and fired artillery at Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine, killing six civilians, including two children.

In the morning, Russian troops shelled Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast, with Grad MLRS, killing a married couple, Head of Donetsk Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko reported. At least 20 detached houses and a school were damaged.

According to Ukraine’s National Police, two children, a brother and a sister, were killed in a Russian artillery shelling of the Toretsk hromada, Donetsk Oblast. A 9-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were killed by a direct hit from an artillery shell on their house. The boy died on the spot, and his sister died in the hospital.

The Russian army attacked Chernihiv Oblast in northern Ukraine with four missiles, Suspilne Chernihiv reported, citing the Head of Chernihiv Military Administration, Viacheslav Chaus.

According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), 8,574 civilians were killed, and 14,441 were injured in Ukraine as of 24 April 2023.
