Kyiv, Ukrainian cities under unprecedented missile strike, casualties reported: LIVE UPDATES

Kyiv, Ukrainian cities under unprecedented missile strike, casualties reported: LIVE UPDATES

Ukraine’s capital Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities were under an unprecedented missile attack. For the first time since the start of Russia’s full-blown aggression, downtown Kyiv was hit by Russian missiles. As of 9:00 on 11 October, 19 people were reported to be killed and 105 were wounded. The mass strikes on Ukrainian cities happen two days after Russia appointed general Surovikin, the former head of Aerospace forces, to head Russia’s occupation troops. This was the first time that this position was officially named.

Ukraine’s Commander in Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi published a map of missile strikes throughout the country as of 10:20-11:00. He noted that Russia used air-, sea- and land-based cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, anti-aircraft guided missiles, reconnaissance, and Shahed-136 c0mbat drones, and that Ukraine’s air defense forces destroyed most of the missiles.

“We are forced to repel these attacks using Soviet-era weapons, which we have in insufficient quantity. The security of Ukraine and the whole of Europe is in the skillful hands of our warriors. My condolences to the families of the fallen civilians and military who became victims of Russian terrorism. Despite everything, despite the agony of the dictatorial regime, we will stand and win,” he wrote.
