Ukraine’s non-nuclear status as a country involved in the Treaty for the nonproliferation of nuclear weaponry is not subject to reexamination, said deputy head of the Russian MFA Sergey Riabkov in an interview to RIA Novosti.
He emphasized that any talk of reexamining Ukraine’s current non-nuclear status is unacceptable to Moscow.
According to media reports, the Ukrainian Defense Minister Valeriy Heletey stated at a press conference on Sunday, September 14, that Ukraine will be forced to return to the issue of renewing its nuclear status unless it receives Western support for protection against Russia.
