The Prosecutor’s office will be investigating crimes of volunteer battalions against civilians

The Prosecutor General’s Office is investigating cases of crimes against the civilian population of Donbas committed by troops of the volunteer battalions.

“We have facts and criminal proceedings where members of volunteer battalions committed criminal offenses against the local population,” – Interfax-Ukraine quotes the Attorney General Vitaliy Yarema.

He noted that, in particular, the offenses committed are robbery and looting. “Military prosecutors are dealing with this question,” said the Attorney General.

As reported previously, the international human rights organization “Amnesty International” urged the Ukrainian authorities to take control of volunteer battalions and begin to investigate violations of international law on human rights.
