Daniel Thomas is a journalist with Euromaidan Press.
His reporting focuses on Russian hybrid warfare, social dynamics within Ukrainian society, and Ukraine’s efforts to defend itself against Russian aggression. He also examines how the Kremlin manipulates history to erase Ukrainian identity and construct ideological justifications for its invasion of Ukraine.
Before joining Euromaidan Press, Thomas completed a master’s degree at Columbia University on a full-tuition scholarship. His master’s thesis examined how Ukrainians from Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts counter Russian disinformation about their homelands’ histories. He has presented his research at institutions including Harvard University, University of Toronto, New York University, and Columbia University.
Thomas earned his bachelor’s degree in History from Emory University, where his capstone research focused on early pro-Russian separatist groups in Donetsk Oblast that later supported Russia’s invasion and acted as “Donbas whisperers,” promoting the false narrative that Donbas belongs to the so-called “Russian World.”
