Gubarev Claims That Akhmetov is Funding Separatists

Gubarev Claims That Akhmetov is Funding Separatists

Rynat Akhmetov

Rynat Akhmetov bribed separatists in Donetsk, stated separatist leader Pavlo Gubarev in an interview with “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.

According to Gubarev, after the Party of Regions has lost credibility, it was not possible to restore it. “In these circumstances, the leaders of the so-called people’s militia began to emerge in all cities. The ruling party, the eastern oligarchs, resorted to the same suitable means of bribery. There were no threats, perhaps; rather bribery and intrigue with activists of the people’s militia,” he said.

“It turned out that two-thirds of the activists are already dependent on oligarch Rynat Akhmetov. A very small group of people remained loyal to the idea, but they also took money. All of them took money!” admitted Gubarev.

Akhmetov has repeatedly stated that he supports a unified Ukraine.

However, Akhmetov urged the government to stop the Anti-Terrorism Operation in the Donbas. “We call on the government to abandon the practice of large-scale battles with the use of the Armed Forces, heavy equipment and weapons in the peaceful cities of the Donbas. We believe that the Ukrainian military and other armed people should immediately leave the city,” the document on Akhmetov’s Metinvest Group website states.
