British musicians raise £2,000 for Ukrainian military hospital

Christina Laroque and Rock Choir™ gave a charity concert in the City of London to raise money for the Ukraine Aid project.  They helped to raise £2,000 towards purchasing of the Dyonics EP-1 Shaver System for the Lviv Military Hospital. The surgical equipment has been shipped today to Ukrainian hospital and will accelerate the recovery of at least 20 wounded patients per month.

Christina Laroque is a Rock Choir™ leader and a singer songwriter. She performed her songs as well as popular Ukrainian and English songs. Rock Choir™ has achieved a fantastic reputation in the UK for its sophisticated teaching techniques, unique style and its feel-good experience.

Rock Choir™ supports hundreds of local communities and raises money for charities through performances and events.  This time they were raising money to purchase some special surgical equipment for the Lviv Military Hospital. The hospital provides treatment to patients from six regions of Western Ukraine: Volyn, Rivne, Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian. It is also known as the Military Medical Clinical Centre of the Western Region.

The sum of £1,314 was generously donated by Rock Choir™ members and guests. The remaining part of the necessary sum of £ 2000 was sourced by online individual donations and Ukraine Aid funds.

During the performance Natalie Lovell, one of Ukraine Aid volunteers, presented the project to the British audience: “Ukraine Aid supports people suffering from war in Ukraine, including the injured and wounded, orphaned children, the elderly and families who have lost their breadwinners. Our aim is to ensure that those who endured dispiriting life-changing experiences during the war are properly prepared, reintegrated and helped to live independent and fulfilled life”. Everybody was moved by the scale of the tragedy and the individual stories of the war casualties who are presently trying to rebuild their lives in the face of the ongoing terror that is not of their making.

According to UN figures more than 6 thousand including 59 children among them, have been killed since mid-April 2014. There are more than one million Internally Displaced People in Ukraine as of March 2015. More than 13 thousand were wounded, including 153 children, across Eastern Ukraine. They rely mostly on private donors, not the government paralysed by the war, for costly medical treatment. Half a million people are living underground to protect themselves from constant shelling.
