Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported fires in multiple high-rise buildings across the capital following a Russian attack on the morning of 27 December. Eight people have been injured, and one killed in the oblast. Rescue operations continue.
In Darnytskyi district, debris hit a 24-story building, starting a fire on the upper floor. "A fire is raging on the top floor of the 24-story building," Klitschko wrote on Telegram.
In Dniprovskyi district, an 18-story building is burning at the third floor level. One person may be trapped under the rubble on the fifth floor. "Search and rescue operations are ongoing," the mayor stated.
Klitschko later added that a drone struck the upper floor of a 10-story building in Shevchenkivskyi district.
Several private houses are on fire in Darnytskyi district. There is a risk the fire will spread to a nearby elderly care facility, from which rescue workers evacuated 10 people. Cars are also burning in the area after debris fell.
In Holosiivskyi district, a car service station is on fire. A drone hit a depot in Dniprovskyi district.
Debris fell in a dacha cooperative in Obolonsky district and on open territory in Desnianskyi district.
Of the eight injured, three were hospitalized and one received outpatient care, according to Klitschko. "As of now, four people injured as a result of the enemy attack on the capital have sought medical help. Three of them were hospitalized. One was provided with outpatient care," he initially reported, with the number later updated to eight.
Nearly a third of the capital is currently without heat, Klitschko reported. "There is no electricity in parts of the left bank districts. Power engineers are working to restore electricity supply," he said.
DTEK confirmed that emergency shutdowns have been applied.
