Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko emphasizes that Ukraine did not compromise on anything in the issue of territorial integrity.
“Ukraine did not compromise on anything in the issue of its territorial integrity, the issue of its state structure. We are now at war for Ukraine’s independence, for the existence of our country,” the Ukrainian President said at the broad government assembly.
He assured that there is and can be no mention of any kind of federalization or secession in the Minsk protocol.
Poroshenko stated that he ordered to make all the agreements reached earlier public.
“The protocol prescribes the renewal and preservation of Ukraine’s sovereignty on all of Donbas territory, including what it now under mercenary control. This territory will also return to Ukraine’s legislative field,” said Poroshenko.
According to him, “no ‘DNR’ or ‘LNR’ are mentioned in the Minsk protocol at all.”
On September 5 in Minsk, a contact group signed the protocol on an immediate ceasefire starting 6 p.m. Kyiv local time in the east of Ukraine. The protocol includes 12 points and prescribes, in particular, en exchange of prisoners of war, provision of humanitarian assistance, monitoring of the ceasefire at the border.
