Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has visited the battalion command post of the 14th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Roman the Great, currently engaged in combat missions in the Kupiansk direction, the Presidential Office announced on 19 February.
The situation in the Kupiansk direction remains one of the most challenging as Russian troops continue their attempts to retake the Kharkiv Oblast territories liberated by Ukrainian defenders in September 2022.
“I am glad to be here today to see you, to congratulate you, to express gratitude on behalf of all Ukrainians, all of Ukraine, for doing such a great job every day, for defending the state, our families, independence, and our sovereignty,” Zelenskyy said.
During the visit, the President awarded defenders who distinguished themselves in protecting Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The President also visited a military hospital in Kharkiv, where he met with wounded soldiers and medical staff. He inspected the intensive care unit and was briefed on the emergency medical aid and evacuation procedures for the wounded. Zelenskyy thanked the defenders for their courage and wished them a speedy recovery, presenting them with state awards.
Addressing the medical staff, the President acknowledged their crucial role in saving lives and awarded them the Orders of Danylo Halytskyi and the Orders “For Courage,” III class, for their dedication and professionalism in defending Ukraine.
“You are saving the warriors, you are the pride of our country. I wish you health and victory – this is the most important thing today,” the President said.
