Local official detonates grenades in government building, one dead, at least 26 injured
On 15 December, a member of the Keretsky village council in Zakarpattia Oblast detonated two grenades inside a local government building, Ukraine’s National Police reported. According to the police, the explosions killed one person and wounded at least 26 more, with six in serious condition. Investigators classified the incident as falling under Part 1, Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to the illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives. Additionally, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is registering and investigating the incident under Part 1, Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, relating to a Terrorist Act, a matter within the jurisdiction of the SBU. Law enforcement agencies refrained from naming the suspect; however, Ukrainska Pravda reported
that the likely individual is Serhii Batryn, a village council member of the Sluha Narodu (Servant of the People) party. Read also:
