Ukraine is set to collaborate with the German defense giant, Rheinmetall, to initiate the production of armored vehicles on Ukrainian territory, as announced by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting on 5 December.
Shmyhal described the venture as “a flagship project to unite the forces of Ukraine and European arms manufacturers to achieve a just peace and ensure our common security.” He emphasized the broader scope of the collaboration, which includes technology transfer, investment in design and development, the establishment of new production facilities, and advancements in Military Tech.
Recalling the foundation of this partnership, Shmyhal noted that the cooperation between the Ukrainian defense industry and Rheinmetall was initiated during his visit to Berlin in October alongside German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Rheinmetall, he mentioned, is already engaged in producing artillery ammunition for Ukraine and continues to receive new orders for these products.
This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and forging stronger ties with European defense manufacturers.
