Slovak carriers block Ukrainian border checkpoint

Slovakian truckers have initiated a blockade of truck traffic at the Vyšné Nemecké-Uzhhorod border crossing, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service reported on its Telegram channel. The duration of this action, organized by the Association of Transporters of Slovakia, remains unknown. According to the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service, the blockade will not affect the transportation of humanitarian aid, other essential goods, live animals, fuel, and refrigerated cargoes. However, the rest of the freight exiting Slovakia will face restrictions, with only four trucks allowed to pass per hour. The entry into Slovakia and the movement of passenger cars and buses will not be hindered by this blockade. On 6 November, Polish carriers began their protest at three border crossing points between Poland and Ukraine, demanding that the Ukrainian government reinstate the practice of issuing permits for Ukrainian carriers, which was abolished by an agreement with the European Union until 30 June 2024.
