A Ukrainian ground robotic complex (NRK) has destroyed a Russian troop concentration. The group was based in the basement of an industrial building near the front, the 5th Separate Assault Kyiv Brigade reports.

The system hit it with an explosion strong enough to collapse the building's reinforced concrete ceiling onto the Russian assault troops staging there.

The target had been chosen by the Russians for a reason: a hardened basement under a thick overhead slab, a position infantry would have to approach across mined and debris-strewn ground.

The 5th Brigade sent two group robots. One did not reach the building. The second did, bringing the ceiling down on the troops below.

One robot vehicle was lost on approach

The occupiers had settled into the basement of an industrial building with a strong overhead slab.

"Reaching the target was difficult: obstacles, debris, and mine danger along the route. One NRK was lost on approach, but the second continued moving and completed the mission," the brigade said.

Controlled collapse

Commenting on the released footage, brigade soldiers said the explosion the NRK delivered was strong enough to bring down the concrete overhead "right onto the heads of the enemy assault troops, burying them under the ruins of the building."

"NRK gives us the chance to hit targets more accurately, without exposing our infantry to extra risk. More explosives, targeted work, effective result," the brigade added.

Inside Ukrainian shift to robotic ground combat

The 5th Brigade operation lands inside an accelerating Ukrainian shift toward ground-robotic systems. Ukraine's General Staff has begun tracking Russian losses from ground robots as a separate line, with the count standing at 1,306 as of early May.

Defense Forces ground-robotics planning has projected continued scaling: at the Black Sea Security Forum in Odesa on 31 May, the 3rd Army Corps under Andrii Biletsky said it planned to replace roughly 30% of its infantry with robotic systems by the end of 2026.
