Explosions were heard in Grozny, capital of Russia's Chechen Republic, from dawn, with multiple drone strikes reported across the city. The first reports came from local Telegram channels and the Chechen opposition movement Niyso. The authorities of Chechnya have not commented on the attacks.
Footage circulating on social media shows strikes in districts that host the new local administration building, a military town, and the Chechen FSB headquarters.
Khankala: 42nd Motor Rifle Division headquarters
According to OSINT analysis published by the Telegram channel Astra, drones struck the Khankala district on the outskirts of Grozny. The area hosts a Russian military base and the headquarters of the 42nd Guards Motor Rifle Yevpatoria Red Banner Division (military unit 27777), which forms part of the 58th Combined Arms Army of Russia's Southern Military District.
Central Grozny: railway station and the FSB
A second strike landed near Grozny's railway station in the central part of the city, Astra reports. The site sits less than two kilometers from Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov's residence and roughly 1.2 kilometers from the "Grozny-City" complex. The building of the Chechen FSB administration stands 120 meters from the impact zone.
