Fighters of the 5th Separate Special Purpose Detachment "Omega" of Ukraine's National Guard have destroyed a Russian "Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg" reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle. The unit announced the strike on its Telegram channel and published video of the combat operation.
The "Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg" (Prince Oleg the Seer) is a Russian fixed-wing reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that has become increasingly prevalent on the battlefield since its introduction in late 2025. Developed by the Ushkuynik Scientific and Production Center, the drone is designed for deep reconnaissance, capable of conducting surveillance and identifying targets at distances of up to 40–45 kilometers behind the front line.
The aircraft and its losses
The destroyed UAV is valued at $100,000. Russian forces use the drone for deep aerial reconnaissance and to record the results of strike drone operations, the publication reports. Citing open-source data, Ukrinform notes that approximately four such drones have been shot down in 2026.
The Omega servicemen also commented on the drone's designation. "Vishchiy Oleh — ruler of Kyivan Rus, and Russians used the very name of this Ukrainian warrior as yet another speculation on our history," the unit said.
