Commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now required to ensure that soldiers remain on positions for no longer than two months, followed by mandatory rotation, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi states. This decision comes amid a recent scandal involving the leadership of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which failed to provide soldiers in positions with food.
He emphasizes that the dominance of drones is fundamentally changing the logic of modern warfare. The traditional concepts of the front line, rear, and operational depth have been significantly transformed.
Logistics and movement, both on the battlefield and between positions, have also become considerably more complex.
Mandatory rotation introduced with strict limits
“To preserve the life and health of soldiers performing tasks both on the line of contact and in the depth of defense, I have signed an order on mandatory rotation of personnel operating on the front line,” Syrskyi says.
Under the new directive, the maximum deployment period is up to two months, after which units must be replaced.
Rotation becomes key to sustaining combat capability
Personnel replacement must take place within 1 month.
“Rotations must be planned in advance, taking into account the operational situation, the nature of combat, and available forces and resources,” Syrskyi stresses.
The measure is intended to maintain defensive stability and reduce troop exhaustion.
Medical checks and recovery periods included
The order also mandates medical examinations for personnel after completing combat missions, along with a designated time for rest and recovery. It further underscores the need for timely supplies of ammunition and food to units on the front line.
“Timely rotation is not only an organizational issue — it is about preserving the lives of our soldiers and the resilience of our defense,” Syrskyi concludes.
Compliance will be strictly monitored, and violations will carry ответственность.
