Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi has joined a large-scale film project based on the cult anime “Gundam”, which is being developed for release on Netflix, reports Netflix Tudum.
Production of the live-action adaptation has officially begun in Queensland, Australia, where the team is working on bringing one of the most influential science fiction franchises of modern pop culture to life.

The film is directed by Jim Mickle, known for Sweet Tooth and Cold in July. The lead roles are played by Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo, who head the cast.
The ensemble also includes, alongside Rudynskyi, Jackson White, Shiori Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Michael Mando, Javon Walton, Ida Brooke, Gemma Chua-Tran, and Jason Isaacs.
New cinematic vision of space war between Earth and its colonies
Set in the mech universe, the story follows pilots of combat robots who find themselves on opposing sides of a long-running conflict between Earth and its space colonies.
As alliances shift and tensions escalate, the characters are forced to make critical decisions and undertake dangerous missions that will determine humanity's future.
"With awe-inspiring battles, intimate human emotion, and an epic cinematic scale, this is Gundam like it’s been seen before," reads one of the early descriptions of the film.
Legendary and Bandai Namco launch new era of “Gundam”
The film is being developed by Legendary Pictures in collaboration with Bandai Namco Filmworks, aiming to reimagine the classic franchise for a modern global audience.
The project is positioned as a large-scale cinematic production focused on action sequences, human drama, and a visually complex futuristic world.
