Ukrainian investigators have identified more Russian soldiers suspected of war crimes in Bucha. Law enforcement has issued suspicions against two more occupiers accused of committing war crimes during the occupation of Bucha in Kyiv Oblast, the National Police reported on 6 April.
During the 2022 occupation, Russia committed over 9,000 crimes in Bucha, killing around 1,400 civilians, including 37 children.
Russian sniper opened targeted fire on civilians
One of the suspects opened fire on civilians who were trying to bury a man killed by Russian forces near an apartment building.
“One of the victims, trying to escape, ran toward a basement. The Russian soldier began deliberately shooting at the victim’s head with an assault rifle,” the statement said.
The local resident managed to survive and hide in the basement.
The suspect is a 35-year-old from Pskov, identified as a sniper of a reconnaissance platoon from the 1st battalion tactical group of the 234th Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Air Assault Division of Russia’s airborne forces.
He is charged under Ukrainian law with attempted intentional murder of a civilian.
Second soldier forced Ukrainian civilian to kneel and beat him
Another soldier is accused of cruel treatment of civilians. In a yard on Central Street, Russian troops stopped a passerby. The suspect forced him to kneel, then beat and abused him.
He is a 37-year-old from Russia’s Magadan region, a communications unit squad leader of the same 234th Air Assault Regiment. He has been charged with the cruel treatment of civilians.
Ukrainian investigators continue efforts to identify Russian personnel involved in crimes against civilians. These investigations are part of a broader effort to document war crimes and ensure accountability.
