Ukraine sets a new world record. The 190th Training Center of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces has become the first globally to achieve remote interceptions of Shahed drones using the Litavr complex from F-Drones, says military analyst Oleksii Kopytko.
Its key specifications include: a maximum speed of 350 km/h, a flight time of up to 15 minutes, dual cameras (day and thermal), and an officially stated operational radius of 36 km (in practice reaching 60 km and 9.5 km in altitude).
"This potentially sets a world-class precedent, as I have not heard of anything similar before," Kopytko says.
Next-generation technology: remote interceptions from anywhere in the country
The 190th Training Center remotely intercepted a Shahed drone using a drone interceptor, with the pilot located far from the launch site.
"The system used was F-Drones’ LITAVR. The F7 LITAVR is a well-known complex with an excellent track record," he explains.
Kopytko emphasized that Ukrainian forces can now launch interceptors from safe locations.
"The key innovation? It proves a new tactical option: along the country’s perimeter, less-trained personnel can deploy interceptors, which pilots then operate from a protected site," he adds.
The system requires internet connectivity at both the control center and launch location. This opens new possibilities for deploying interceptors in zones unsafe for personnel and allows flexible management of pilot resources.
Litavr in action: hundreds of drones destroyed weekly
Currently, LITAVR intercepts hundreds of Russian drones each week, including Shaheds, Gerbers, Blizzards, Orlans, Lancets, and others.
The Litavr system was developed in fall 2024, successfully tested and codified by summer 2025, with serial production and delivery to troops beginning in fall 2025.
The warhead weighs 500 g and can detonate by kinetic impact with the target, self-detonate on contact, or be manually detonated by the operator. Guidance is inertial, without GPS, and uses an automatic “last mile”/target-lock system.
LITAVR has proven effective, enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
