Agents of the pro-Ukrainian Atesh partisan movement have carried out an operation in Russia's Lipetsk. As a result, a communications tower used for data transmission and coordination of Russian Armed Forces units has been destroyed.
ATESH partisans conduct sabotage and intelligence missions inside Russia. The group targets military logistics, equipment, and troop movements, aiming to disrupt Russian supply chains and slow operations on the frontlines.
The 924th Center for Combat Use and Retraining of UAV Personnel, Lipetsk military airfield, and the 260th Arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) are stationed within the tower’s coverage area.
With communications near the arsenal disrupted, any strike against it now becomes significantly more destructive.
Impact of the sabotage: communication outages and reduced unit control
These towers provide both official and military communication channels, including backups. Destroying the tower disrupted reliable communications, disrupted information flow, and reduced the effectiveness of command over the units involved.
Even far from the frontlines, Russia’s critical infrastructure remains vulnerable, the partisans have stressed. Each such facility is part of the system enabling warfare, and its destruction directly undermines the Russian ability to coordinate actions and respond quickly.
