Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov will travel to NATO headquarters in Brussels on 12 February for his first major international engagement since taking office last month, according to the ministerial meeting agenda reviewed by European Pravda.

The day will begin with NATO member states convening for a North Atlantic Council session, followed by an informal Ukraine-NATO Council meeting with Fedorov's participation.

A two-hour Ramstein format meeting is scheduled for the afternoon. The format coordinates military support to Ukraine. Fedorov will then hold a press conference alongside the defense ministers of Germany and the United Kingdom and NATO's Secretary General.

The previous Ramstein meeting saw Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal in attendance and took place in December.

In early February, Fedorov held a coordination call with NATO's Secretary General and the defense ministers of Britain and Germany ahead of the upcoming Ramstein session. "They discussed key priorities for supporting Ukraine," Fedorov said.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will reprotedly skip the February 12 NATO ministerial meeting.

Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada appointed Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense on 13 January 2026, with 277 votes. He took the oath of office immediately after the parliamentary vote.

Denys Shmyhal had held the position since 17 July 2025, after serving as Prime Minister.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy initiated the change to drive reforms at the Defense Ministry, focusing on military recruitment issues, drone production, technological advancements, and strengthening defenses against Russia. This was part of a broader government reshuffle amid wartime challenges.
