Ukrainian border guard drone pilots, working jointly with the Defense Forces, destroyed a Russian Type-63 multiple launch rocket system in the south, the State Border Guard Service reports.
The BpLA crews detected the hostile rocket launcher, which the Russian forces had tried to camouflage. Following the strike, the ammunition load began actively detonating, according to the Border Guard Service.
Open sources indicate the Type-63 MLRS is of Chinese manufacture.
Chinese military equipment plays a significant role in supporting Russia's armed forces, particularly amid Western sanctions since 2022.
Russia relies on China for dual-use components like machine tools, chemicals for explosives, and electronics used in drones, missiles, and artillery production across at least 20 facilities.
While direct transfers of lethal weapons like tanks or jets remain limited to avoid escalation, Chinese firms supply optics, propellants, and even Type 63 MLRS rockets captured in Russian stockpiles.
