A worker from the municipal enterprise Kyivteploenergo died on the evening of 14 January while unloading energy equipment in Kyiv, the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA) reported.
The incident occurred in the Obolonsky district during the unloading of generator equipment intended to provide heat to residential buildings, according to KMDA.
"Work in difficult weather conditions, with a colossal load, as utility workers work sparing no effort to restore services to Kyiv residents. Unfortunately, this takes its toll," KMDA stated.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said earlier that the capital is in its most difficult situation in four years of full-scale war following massive Russian attacks on 9 and 13 January.
President Zelenskyy announced that a state of emergency will be introduced in the Ukrainian energy sector due to Russian attacks and cold weather.
The head of state also said that curfews may be lifted in some cities and communities after the emergency regime is implemented.
