Kyiv reaches record interceptor supply rates amid Russia's increased drone attacks. In December and January, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry achieved a high average supply rate of more than 1,500 anti-Shahed interceptor drones per day, according to Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The advancement has significantly enhanced Ukraine's capabilities in countering aerial targets at various levels, from the frontline to the protection of rear regions.
“More than 1,500 anti-Shahed drones per day. In December-January, the Ministry of Defense reached a strong average level in supplying interceptors to the military,” Shmyhal claims.
DOT-Chain Defence as a tool for rapid reinforcement
Another important element in strengthening defense capabilities has been the operation of the DOT-Chain Defence weapons marketplace.
Under this system, brigades independently select FPV drones, EW systems, and robotic platforms from verified manufacturers' catalogs. The Defence Procurement Agency funds and delivers within weeks, bypassing months of bureaucracy.
According to the minister, military units have ordered and already received more than 7,000 tactical-level interceptor drones through the platform, enabling them to quickly meet urgent needs without waiting for centralized deliveries.
A critical element of multi-layer air defense
Shmyhal emphasized that interceptor drones are a crucial component of a multi-layered air defense system. They make it possible to:
- preserve air defense missile stocks by using cheaper interception means;
- increase the density of counter-UAV efforts without overloading air defense systems;
- protect personnel, equipment, and logistics both at the front and in rear areas.
