President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has outlined a multi-stage diplomatic roadmap that could culminate in negotiations with Russia, following a series of meetings with Western allies planned for January.
Speaking during an online briefing with media, Zelenskyy revealed that a meeting at the advisers' level is planned for the coming days. "Rustem Umierov has already connected with all American and European advisers. We want such a meeting. And I think we will do everything so that this meeting is finally in Ukraine," he said.
The president described a sequential process: after advisers prepare the necessary documents, European leaders will meet with Ukraine "in a broad format." Zelenskyy also mentioned the upcoming meeting of the "coalition of the resolute."
"Yes, plus this meeting will happen. I started discussing it immediately after the meeting with President Trump. I have already connected with President Macron, with several other partners, and I will continue these consultations. And there will be such a meeting," Zelenskyy stated.
Following this gathering, the president expects documents to be agreed upon at the leadership level, after which a meeting with President Trump and European leaders will be prepared.
"And we are all seriously committed to ensuring that these meetings I told you about happen in January. And after that, I think that if everything goes step by step, then after that there will already be a meeting in one format or another with the Russians," he said.
"We emphasize this once again, we are ready for the appropriate formats that we have already discussed," Zelenskyy declared.
French President Emmanuel Macron has indicated that a meeting of the "coalition of the resolute" countries will take place in Paris in early January, where participants plan to finalize each state's specific contributions to a security guarantee system for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy and Trump met in Florida for peace negotiations, with Trump immediately warning that he would call Putin after the conversation.
