“Whole family fell from third floor”: Strike on Flamingo missile company employee signals Russia is hunting Ukraine’s defense innovators at their homes

Russia targets not only Ukraine's infrastructure but also the people, ensuring its defense. Moscow's strike on Kyiv Oblast on the night of 30 November killed an employee of Fire Point in his home, a Ukrainian defense technology company, according to its chief designer and co-founder, Denys Shtilerman.

The strike on a missile systems specialist’s home is likely a signal to other defense sector employees to demoralize them.

Fire Point manufactures the long-range FP-1 UAV and the FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missile for precision strikes against deep targets in occupied territories. Ukraine used such drones to hit the base of Russian invaders, belonging to the most elite and secretive drone Rubikon center in Avdiivka in Donetsk Oblast in 2025.

Shtilerman adds that the victim’s family is currently in critical condition in the hospital.

According to the UAV expert Serhii Beskrestnov, also known as Flesh, all three “Shahed” drones carried cluster munitions. This is done deliberately to maximize casualties among people.

"We know where many of our enemies live with their families"

On the night of 30 November, several Russian drones reportedly hit a Vyshhorod city apartment building, causing a fire that destroyed six floors. One person was killed, and 19 residents were injured.

“Russians are lucky that, unlike them, we do not retaliate for daily shelling of our peaceful cities on residential buildings. We know where many of our enemies live with their families,” Shtilerman wrote on X.

Additionally, 14 private houses and 3 apartment buildings were damaged in Vyshhorod due to the Russian attack. Seven cars were damaged, one completely burned. A fire also broke out on the premises of one of the enterprises.

People suffered burns, shrapnel wounds, limb trauma, and smoke poisoning. A fire broke out in one of the town’s high-rises, forcing the evacuation of 146 residents and prompting a large-scale emergency response.

Reporters from Suspilne visited the strike site and spoke with residents and rescuers.

“From the third floor, the whole family fell; the man died. He fell right out of the window. I don’t know if the door was stuck, why he fell like that. The others are in the hospital: wife, son, and daughter,” said resident Antonina.

Rescuers on site: over 100 people and 21 units of equipment

The victim was a 47-year-old man. Over 100 rescuers and 21 units of equipment were involved in responding to the attack, according to Victoria Ruban, spokesperson for the Kyiv region State Emergency Service.

The strike was part of Russia’s ongoing daily campaign of long-range drone and missile attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas in rear cities. Every night, the Russians launch from dozens to hundreds of Shahed explosive drones and Gerbera decoy UAVs.

According to her, several Shahed-type drones may have hit the Vyshhorod building. The exact number will be determined by explosive ordnance disposal specialists who continue to work at the site.

Police are treating the attack as a war crime. Kyiv Oblast law enforcement officials have opened criminal proceedings under charges related to Russia’s ongoing armed aggression against civilians.
