Russians have already “captured” Kupiansk… but only in their reports. On the ground, the city remains Ukrainian. Despite Russian claims of a takeover, the situation in the settlement remains relatively stable, although fighting continues on the outskirts over an important railway hub, says Victor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group of Ukraine, 24 Channel reports.
The real pressure and serious attempts to break through are occurring east of the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, nearly 8 km from the city, at a key railway station.
This direction is mainly held by Russian contract soldiers
They are trained, but not “veteran wolf packs,” rather people who came to the war for money.
According to Trehubov, Russian soldiers are trying to push Ukrainian forces off the left bank of the Oskil River. So far, they have not been very successful, but the occupiers are indeed exerting significant pressure.
As of now, Moscow troops cannot enter Kupiansk itself but are attempting to advance to the east of the city.
The Ukrainian military spokesperson stated that in the Kupiansk direction, the invaders have reserves to replenish their forces, but lack sufficient numbers for a significant buildup.
Modern technology determines the effectiveness of combat in key sections of the front
Logistics in Kupiansk are very difficult for both sides, but even more so for the Russians. Up to 40 occupiers are in the city itself. However, locating and eliminating them is not easy, since both Ukrainian and Russian drones are flying over the settlement.

Earlier, Trehubov said that weather conditions, particularly fog, facilitated Russia's infiltration operations on the outskirts of the city.
