Ukraine sends drone warfare experts to Denmark as mystery UAVs trigger Nordic security alert

Ukrainian military specialists have deployed to Denmark to participate in the Wings of Defense joint exercises focused on countering strike drones, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

The Ukrainian servicemembers arrived in the kingdom to support Danish partners amid a situation involving unidentified UAVs appearing over Denmark. The exercises come as the Scandinavian country grapples with a series of mysterious drone incidents that have prompted heightened security measures.

"Throughout the week of training, participants will work through practical tasks, exchange knowledge and experience, raising the level of preparation and improving capabilities to counter air threats," the General Staff reported.

The command described the exercises as "an important step" in strengthening the interoperability of Ukrainian and Danish armed forces, noting they make both states "stronger in their common pursuit of peace and security in Europe."

Sweden moved to support Denmark on 29 September, deciding to provide assistance by deploying units and anti-drone systems to its neighbor.

Denmark has temporarily banned all civilian drone flights in its airspace ahead of European summits scheduled in Copenhagen, according to authorities.

On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that partners create a joint air defense system to protect against threats from Russia. He also stated that Europe has the right to restrict shipping in the Baltic Sea, citing intelligence suggesting Russia may have been launching drones from sea tankers.
