Fire breaks out in residential complex in Odesa after Russian drone attack

Russian forces launched another drone attack on Odesa overnight on 9 November, resulting in damage to multiple buildings and a fire in a residential complex, local authorities report.

Russian attack killed one person and injured 13 others, including two boys aged 4 and 16.

Odesa mayor Oleksandr Filatov said that the debris from the attack damaged a residential complex, breaking windows and doors. He added that warehouse facilities and an administrative building were also damaged. No casualties were reported.

According to the Odesa City Council, the attack damaged several high-rise buildings, private sector houses, and vehicles.

The local news outlet Dumska reported “a severe fire in one of the residential complexes.”

Ukraine’s public broadcaster Suspilne confirmed this information through residents.

Filatov said the city will deploy an operational headquarters in the morning to assist residents at the strike locations.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian oblasts with various types of weapons – strike UAVs, missiles, rockets, CABs, and MLRS. Russia’s leadership denies that the Russian army, during a full-scale war, conducts targeted attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

Ukraine’s military reported that the Russian army launched 51 drones in Ukraine. Ukraine’s air defense has shot down 32 drones in 11 oblasts. Another 18 drones have been lost, the Air Force reported.
