Vice President Kamala Harris has contacted Donald Trump by phone to congratulate him on winning the 2024 presidential election, multiple US media outlets report.
“Harris called Trump to congratulate him on winning the 2024 presidential election,” NBC News reports, citing a senior Harris aide.
According to AP and NBC News, the conversation included a discussion about “the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a president for all Americans,” the aide said.
The Vice President is expected to deliver remarks to supporters later on 6 Movember at Howard University in Washington, DC, reports indicate.
Trump said before he wouldn’t commit to approving additional US aid to Ukraine if reelected. However, his isolationist strategy aims for a “very quick” resolution to the war and pressuring Ukraine into ceding Russian-occupied territories to the Kremlin.
During his campaign, Trump criticized spending billions on Ukraine’s defense, saying that Kyiv “won’t win the war.”
He previously claimed he could end the war by speaking with the Ukrainian and Russian presidents while maintaining that Putin’s peace negotiation terms were “unacceptable.”
before the meeting with Zelenslyy in late September, Trump criticized the Ukrainian President, calling him “the greatest salesman on Earth” for securing US support.
