Ukraine destroys 3 helicopters and 146 Russian drones during Kursk operation

Ukrainian airborne troops reported neutralizing 149 aerial targets during the ongoing Kursk operation, according to the press service of the Airborne Assault Forces command.

Ukrainian forces started their offensive in Russia’s Kursk Oblast on 6 August, reportedly aiming to destabilize Russian defenses by forcing them to divert resources away from critical fronts in Ukraine. Ukraine allegedly seized some 1,300 square kilometers (500 square miles).

Among the 149 destroyed Russian targets by Ukrainian forces, three were helicopters: two combat Ka-52 helicopters and one Mi-8 transport-combat helicopter.

The remaining 146 targets were unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) spanning reconnaissance and attack categories.

Ukraine also eliminated 97 reconnaissance drones, including models like Orlan-10, Zala, and Cupercam. An additional 48 attack drones, including Shahed and "Heran" models, were also taken down.

The Ukrainian troops also intercepted one Russian reconnaissance-strike "Orion" drone.
