Over the first nine months of 2024, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense approved more than 900 new weapons and military equipment samples for use by the country’s Defense Forces. According to First Deputy Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, over 600 of these samples are domestically produced.
This marks a substantial increase from 2023, when a total of 405 weapons and military equipment samples were codified, including 244 of domestic production. Havryliuk noted that almost half of the 600+ domestic samples approved this year were processed during the year’s third quarter alone.
The newly approved equipment covers a wide range of military assets, including vehicles, unmanned aerial systems, ammunition, electronic warfare systems, communication devices, engineering equipment, and ground robotic platforms, according to Militarnyi.
“In 2024, domestic arms manufacturers have not only increased production volumes across a wide range of weapons and military equipment but are also creating many new samples,” Havryliuk stated.
He emphasized the focus on producing high-tech weapons, which are playing an increasingly important role on the battlefield.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted ongoing work on several crucial projects aimed at increasing Ukraine’s firepower. However, he refrained from providing details, citing the need for confidentiality at this stage.
The approval process for new military equipment has been expedited due to the ongoing war with Russia. Developers and manufacturers are receiving real-time feedback from the military regarding the performance of their products in actual combat conditions, allowing for quick improvements and adaptations.
