From 15 to 31 October, New York City will host the Ukrainian Cultural Festival, the Consulate General of Ukraine in the city announced on social media.
The festival is co-presented by Razom for Ukraine nonprofit and the Ukrainian Institute and is organized in cooperation with the National Ballet of Ukraine, Ukrainian Contemporary Music Festival, Yara Arts, Ukrainian Museum, KISFF, and Linoleum Festival.
During the two-week event in October, attendees will be able to dive into Ukrainian poetry and prose while enjoying some of the finest contemporary Ukrainian films, according to the festival organizers.
As part of the festival, everyone will have the unique opportunity to engage with acclaimed Ukrainian authors, including Halyna Kruk, Marianna Kiyanovska, Ostap Slyvynsky, Yulia Iliukha, Olena Styazhkina, Andrii Liubka, and Oleksii Averbukh. These literary voices promise to offer profound insights into contemporary Ukrainian literature.
The National Ballet of Ukraine, one of the world’s leading ballet companies, will embark on its first US tour in over 30 years, marking its debut performance in the US since the dissolution of the Soviet Union during the Ukrainian Cultural Festival.
“Straight from the historic Kyiv National Opera House, these world-class dancers will captivate you with a stunning program featuring timeless classics, including The Dying Swan, Don Quixote, and Giselle,” say the organizers.
In 2023, Forbes Ukraine ranked Razom for Ukraine 8th in its list of the country’s Top 50 nonprofits. The organization provides humanitarian aid, supports Ukraine’s civil society, and promotes Ukrainian culture worldwide amid Russia’s war.
Since the beginning of the all-out military aggression, Razom has grown from an all-volunteer organization of dedicated activists to a community of over 222,000 supporters around the world, delivering medical supplies, communication gear, evacuation transport, and more to Ukrainian defenders.
