Multiple oblasts in Russia reported drone attacks and explosions overnight, with incidents occurring in Rostov Oblast, Voronezh Oblast, and Yeysk. The attacks resulted in fires, property damage, and heightened security measures across the affected areas.
The attacks mark an escalation in drone activity within Russian territory, raising concerns about the vulnerability of civilian infrastructure and military installations far from the Ukrainian border.
Rostov Oblast shares a border with Ukraine, while Voronezh Oblast is approximately 180 kilometers (110 miles) from the nearest point of the Ukrainian border, indicating a significant reach for the reported drone attacks.
Governor Alexander Gusev claimed Ukrainian drones were downed in Voronezh Oblast. No casualties were reported. Gusev said a falling drone hit a residential complex, causing a fire and damaging the children’s playground and several cars.
ASTRA, citing local residents, reported that a fire broke out in the village of Somovo in Voronezh Oblast.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have shot down 17 drones over the Voronezh Oblast during the night, with one reportedly hitting a multi-apartment residential building in Voronezh.
Following the drone attack, residents of Volgograd Oblast also reported drone attacks and subsequent fires, with one visible near the village of Sady Pridonya in the Gorodishchensky district.
In Rostov Oblast, reports indicated a strike on an ammunition depot in the village of Kotluban. Iranian ballistic missiles and their launch systems were allegedly stored there. An airfield fire was also reported, though details remain limited.
