Zelenskyy: Russia has launched at least 500 missiles, drones at Ukraine over past five days

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on 2 January, as reported by Zelenskyy via his X(Twitter). President Zelenskyy informed Sunak that, over the last five days, Russia has launched at least 500 missiles and drones against Ukraine. After a substantial pause in mass missile attacks, Russian forces resumed their assaults on Ukrainian cities on 29 December, primarily targeting civilian areas with various types of missiles. During the conversation, Zelenskyy briefed Sunak on the recent intensive Russian bombardments. He expressed gratitude for Britain's "substantial and comprehensive aid in" strengthening Ukraine's air defense capabilities. Furthermore, the two leaders discussed defense cooperation, emphasizing the enhancement of Ukraine's air defense and long-range capabilities. They also focused on the progress of a bilateral agreement regarding the UK's security commitments to Ukraine.

"We also acknowledged the productive work on the bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine following the G7 Vilnius Declaration. We should finalize it as quickly as feasible," Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy also mentioned the coordination of positions on Ukraine's Peace Formula ahead of the fourth advisors' meeting in Davos. The leaders talked about working together on specific points of the Peace Formula. Read also:
