Poland has transferred 18 self-propelled howitzers Krab to Ukraine, as reported by the Polish news agency PAP. The weaponry was sourced from the stockpiles of the Polish army, a confirmation provided by the Ukraine Ministry of Defense.
“We want to express our gratitude to Polish partners at @MON_GOV_PL for their constant support and, in particular, for providing us with AHS Krab self-propelled howitzer. Krab became one of the first 155mm artilleries in service with #UArmy. This howitzer also became a nightmare for occupiers in the skillful hands of the 🇺🇦 artillerymen”, stated the Ministry of Defense on Twitter/X.
The Ministry of Defense posted about the Krab howitzers in the “Ukrainian Advent Calendar” section, announcing that they would daily showcase the “Weapons of Victory.”
The AHS Krab is a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer from Poland, incorporating NATO-compatible features. Its licensed turret is adapted from the British AS-90 artillery. The chassis is derived from the South Korean K9 Thunder. Electrically driven, it boasts a firing range from 4.5 to 40 km and rapid position transitions. The turret holds 29 shells with 28 charges, while 11 shells and 20 charges are stored in the hull.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion against Ukraine, Poland has provided Ukrainian forces with portable anti-aircraft missile systems Piorun, Grot carbines, tanks PT-91, T-72, Leopard 2, MiG-29 aircraft. Deliveries for self-propelled mortar systems Rak and 100 Rosomak infantry fighting vehicles are underway.
