Overnight into 22 November, Russian forces once again conducted an air attack deep inside Ukraine, launching Iranian-made Shahed-series one-way attack drones, which scattered over multiple regions, triggering long air raid alerts. Ukraine’s Air Force says the air defenders eventually shot down all of the Shaheds.

“From 20:00 on 21 November to 03:00 on 22 November 2023, the occupiers attacked from the southeast (Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russian Federation) with 14 Shahed-type attack UAVs and a Kh-22 cruise missile from a Tu22M3 aircraft from the same direction,” the Air Force wrote, adding that air defense units of the Air Force, Land Forces, and the National Guard destroyed all 14 Shahed-131/136 drones.

According to the Air Force, the Kh-22 cruise missile failed to reach its target in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and hit an open area, damaging detached houses but injuring no one, as per initial reports.

The Air Force says mobile fire group units, fighter aircraft, and anti-aircraft missile units were engaged in repelling the air attack in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts.

Russia carries out such attacks almost every night, often targeting civilian or military facilities. Ukrainian air defenders usually shoot down most of the Shahed drones.
