New York proclaimed November 2023 as Ukrainian Holodomor Remembrance Month

The state of New York issued a proclamation on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor in November 2023.

New York proclaimed November 2023 as Ukrainian Holodomor Remembrance Month

In the proclamation, the state of New York once again emphasized the recognition of the Holodomor of 1932-33 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. It declared November the month of remembrance of the Holodomor genocide in Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova said she is grateful to the governor of the state of New York, Kathy Hochul, for her solidarity with Ukraine.

She also thanked the team of the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York and the Ukrainian community for their active work in honoring the memory of the victims of the Holodomor.

The State of New York officially recognized Holodomor as genocide in 2018.

Following the issue of declaration, Ukrainians and Americans also commemorated Holodomor victims by service in the St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York:
