Russia is waging an undeclared war on Ukraine and committing war crimes and ethnic cleansing in Donetsk and Luhansk. POWS are being murdered, villages are being shelled, cluster bombs are being deployed. The Ukrainian army is fighting heroically against an enemy that is numerically superior and better equipped. They are sacrificing their lives for the freedom of Europe.We must do all we can to make sure that their heroism is not in vain. We must do all we can to prevent the Russian army killing more civilians.

On 4 and 5 September Wales will host the NATO summit. Ukrainians are going to demonstrate on the streets of Cardiff and demand NATO’s help to save their country. The United Kingdom will use the occasion to announce the creation of a rapid reaction force consisting of seven countries. This establishes a precedent for creating a smaller alliance within NATO devoted to protecting the security of Ukraine, the Baltic States and Poland. The United Kingdom was also a signatory to the Budapest agreement, guaranteeing Ukraine’s security in exchange for its Nuclear weapons. We will use this chance to demand:the United Kingdom and NATOs assistance with troops and weapons. We will ask the United Kingdom, Canada and the Baltic States to help Ukraine in its fight for freedom. They must know that if they do not help Ukraine today they will be fighting Russia on their own soil tomorrow.
