Russia continues to increase its military power on the border with Ukraine. Andriy Lysenko, the spokesperson of the information center of the NSDC [National Security and Defense Council] reported about this at a press conference.
As of today, a grouping of 45,000 Russian troops is located in the border areas of focus (of which 20,000 are deployed in Crimea). Among the military equipment, there are 160 tanks, 1,360 combat armored vehicles, 390 artillery systems, up to 150 “Grads,” 192 combat aircraft and 137 attack helicopters. Moreover, Russia began the next round of large-scale exercises of airborne troops with combat shooting, in Pskov Oblast [westernmost region that borders on Estonia, Latvia and Belarus]. Over 3,000 servicemen will participate in the exercise, more than 30 airplanes and helicopters of the military transport, front and army aviation will be used.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian authorities as well as NATO, suggest a significant risk of invasion in Ukraine by the Russian army. According to United States data, the Russians might attack Ukraine under the guise of “peacekeepers.”
