A group of volunteers from the Country Aid Fund “Wings Phoenix,” which supports the Ukrainian soldiers located in the ATO zone, started to restore the museum jet An-26, which used to be an exhibit in the State Aviation Museum.
“A group of good people united into a community and started to restore the jet An-26, which is part of the 15th TAB based in Boryspil, to enable it to fly,” reported the museum.
The renovation of the jet is done using the efforts of aviation connoisseurs, enthusiasts and patriots, as well as technicians and engineers of the 15th brigade. The money comes from impartial Ukrainians which help with what they can.
The coordinator of the project Anna Prokopenko said in an interview to the Ministry of Defence’s newspaper Wings of Ukraine that overall the renovation will cost 200 thousand UAH. As such, the technical work has already been finalised and another month is needed for the jet to start going on missions.
