Russia does not like the number of ultimatums in the peace plan presented by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Espreso TV, the publication reports, July 21.
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, “many points in this plan look like ultimatums. “
“The plan is based on the notion that (Ukraine’s government) will grant a few days, a week, and all those who disagree with the current government, with the way it came to power, will have to lay down their arms and leave Ukraine altogether. Then (Ukraine) will consider whether or not (they) committed serious crimes and then (they) can be amnestied. Again, I repeat, the peace plan contains a whole series of ultimatums. This is not at all what President Poroshenko discussed during meetings in Normandy,” Lavrov said.
Earlier, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin announced that it would be premature for any discussion of support by the Russian government for the peace plan of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
