Prime Minister Yatsenyuk insists on eliminating Oblast State Administrations and to delegate their powers to newly established executive committees. He spoke about this at a meeting with representatives of local authorities in Kyiv, Interfax – Ukraine reports.
“As a Prime Minister, I insist on the elimination of regional administrations, and I think this is a vestige of the past.”
In this regard, Yatsenyuk stated of the need for local executive committees in the regions after the amendment of the Constitution and laws of Ukraine. “Executive committees must take full responsibility for the current situation in each region,” he said.
Under the current Constitution of Ukraine, Oblast State Administration heads are appointed by the President.
