Komsomolskaya Pravda, Russia Today – leading outlets for anti-Semitic and anti-Israel propaganda, Israeli researchers say

Analysis & Opinion, Russia

In its annual survey of anti-Semitism in the world, the Kantor Center at Tel Aviv University says that Komsomolskaya Pravda, the Moscow paper with Russia’s largest print run, and the Russia Today TV channel (and especially its English-language variant) “continue to be the main platforms for noxious anti-Semitic and anti-Israel propaganda.”

The center notes that the number of victims of anti-Semitic crimes around the world continued to decline in 2016 but says that with the help of the media, anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli ideas have been spreading in groups both on the far-right and the far-left of the political spectrum.

Among the developments in Russia last year that the Kantor Center sees as particularly worrisome are anti-Semitic statements by senior politicians. In both cases, they were force to apologize; but the center’s researchers point out, those who spread vicious libels from the past – Petr Tolstoy and Vitaly Milonov – do not appear to have suffered as a result.

More seriously, the report continues, both Russian nationalists and some Russian media outlets now identify opposition figures as Jewish, and they spread fabricated stories about Jews and Israel in order to damage the reputations of both.

The Kantor Center study echoes the findings of Moscow’s SOVA research center which reported that there were very few violent attacks on Jews in Russia in 2016 but that “’anti-Semitic rhetoric was extremely prominent” in the media and public life, a worrisome development especially for the future.

And yet these Krembots are the first to yell nazi at anyone who opposes their sick, twisted world view.

A lot of Israelis have been concerned about the way their government made nice with the Kremlin, up until 2016. Putin can be very seductive. He persuaded Netanyahu to sell top-quality equipment to the Russian army, including drones far better than anything Russia could manufacture, and to stand by while Russia supported Assad.

This didn’t turn out well – dealing with the Kremlin never does. Israel was betrayed by Russia in Syria, and Ukraine and its friends voted against Israel in the UN Security Council.

Fortunately, many people continue to point out the truth, like this Kantor Centre is doing – the regime in Russia is no friend of Jews or of Israel. The Israelis should be supporting Ukraine, not Russia. After all, many Ukrainian Jews have been putting their lives on the line in the Donbass.

Netanyahu must stop helping pootler to murder Ukrainians. Outside the Arab world, there is no more anti-semitic nation than RuSSia, home of the widely-believed forgery (in RuSSia and throughout the islamic world) ‘the protocols of the elders of zion’. It is an utter disgrace that Israel does business with a fascist regime that has Iran and Syria as its closest allies. Especially bearing in mind the fact that Ukraine is an important pilgrimage site for Jews.

        Jews don’t like Ukrainians.
They have IGNORANTLY swallowed the BS of Ukr. concentration camp guards, “cutting off the breasts of women with swords.”

        Yes! Jews are THAT STUPID!

OTOH — I see you MOST UNFORTUNATELY “swallowed” the Ruski **MOLE** & his BOGUS POST on the Ukrainian language.

I replied to that, mentioning you btw.
Made a few other posts in that article as well.

The Ruski **MOLES** “come out” when it’s very important for “them”.
I.e. as when I began mentioning their BS Ruski MOLE sites on Disqus.

        Suddenly * I * became a Russian TROLL!! :)))

OR they come out ALWAYS — on the critical point ALWAYS !!!
        — The UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE.
They KNOW that must be destroyed! Polaks did as well….

“Alex George” — unfortunately “sucked you in” :(
You & another Uke up-voted him.

He IS worming his way in I see …. tried to “politely engage” me in a “discussion” a week ago.

I tol’ him not “to try & suk my dik. ”

For the way things are, are the way things are.

Russia a year ago BANNED every other language in the Ruski “Federation” — except Ruskli of course — IN EFFECT!!!

ALL GOV. COMMUNICATIONS MUST BE IN RUSSIAN — BY **LAW*.

ALL SCHOOL INSTRUCTION MUST BE IN RUSSIAN…. They know WTF to do … & so does “Alex George” —- evidently … it works…

        • Alex George

Rubbish. Many Jews have put their lives on the line in Donbas to defend Ukraine. They don’t agree with the former Israeli policy of detente with Russia, nor do many Israelis agree with their government on this issue.

Unlike you, a self-confessed non-Ukrainian, Jewish people have fought for Ukraine, paying a price in sweat and blood.

          • Andrew Chmile

            NOT “many”. :)

            Good for the “some” :)

You mix metaphors a lot …. it works at times it seems…. Interesting!

          • Alex George

You clearly do not understand what a metaphor is.

And no its not just some – many jews put their lives on the line for Ukraine. And of course they are not the only religious and racial minority that do so.

          • Andrew Chmile

Do you TROLLS & MOLES & STUKACHI & OTHER
LYING RUSKI HOMOSEXUALS LIKE YOU DO? 😉

          • Alex George

You need to learn how English grammar works – the above sentence is missing an auxiliary verb and hence makes no sense.

My point (which you apparently did not understand) was that many jews put their lives on the line for Ukraine. And of course they are not the only religious and racial minority that do so.

          • Andrew Chmile

“You need to learn how English grammar works – the above sentence is missing an auxiliary verb and hence makes no sense.”

            No need!
Understood from context you STUPID Ruski POS! :)))

“My point (which you apparently did not understand) was that many jews
put their lives on the line for Ukraine. And of course they are not the
only religious and racial minority that do so.”

            NOT “MANY”.

            Back it up! HOW “MANY”?

NOT YOUR LYING RUSSO-MONGOLIAN SH*T MOUTH!

          • Alex George

Oh please Andrew, I don’t have to tell you to the nearest person.

This incidentally is yet another demonstration that you do not live in Ukraine, you are not Ukrainian, and you do not speak Ukrainian.

If you were, you would know about the many Jewish people who have fought for Ukraine in the Donbass – there have been many articles about them.

Your posts are just a regurgitation of RT and other Russian media with a bit of profanity thrown in. You follow exactly the Kremlin line that Ukraine is anti-Jewish, when it plainly is not.

      • Andrew Chmile

Israel REFUSED to sell drones to Ukraine, but sold them to Russia.

DESPITE THE BAN ON WEAPONS SALES TO RUSSIA BY THE U.S.
        What do they care?

        • Alex George

Who is “they”? The Israeli government made the mistake of listening to Putin’s propaganda. They weren’t the only ones – many on the far right, even in Ukraine, have also been friendly to Putin.

The Netanyahu government was wrong to supply those hi-tech drones to Russia. They stopped the supply last year, and they now appear to realise that they need to get friendly with Ukraine, hence the invitation to Poroshenko to visit Israel.

But there are many Jews who have fought for Ukraine against Kremlin aggression (and it is fair to note that many other minorities have also, including Muslims and Russians.
