Anti-Americanism now Russia’s official ideology, ‘Nezavisimaya Gazeta’ says

Anti-Americanism has become part of the discourse of ordinary Russians over the last year, but senior government officials have generally been restrained in their use of such phobias. But that has now changed, “Nezavisimaya gazeta” says, and “anti-American phobias have acquired the status of the official picture of the world in Russia.”

In an editorial today, the paper says that Nikolay Patrushev, the secretary of the Russian Security Council and former head of the FSB, has made it so by his blunt statements in the course of the interview he gave to Moscow’s “Kommersant” newspaper this week.

Patrushev’s remarks, “Nezavisimaya” says, are “practically unprecedented” as far as a senior Russian official is concerned and thus provide clear testimony about “the level of tension” which now dominates relations between Moscow and Washington.

As the editors note, Patrushev said that the US “very much wanted that Russia not exist at all as a country” and misquoted former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in support of the notion that in the view of Washington, Russia should not retain either the Far East or Siberia because it doesn’t make good use of them. In fact, Albright did not say that.

To claim otherwise, “Nezavisimaya gazeta” says, is to engage in talk like those who refer to “the Dulles Plan” or “the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”

Patrushev’s decision to do so, to make use of “invented citations,” is “symptomatic,” the paper says. It shows that “distrust and anger at the West and especially at the US has become for the Russian authorities the chief motivating factor” and that anything, whether it is true or not, is “suitable” for making its arguments.

The Kremlin officials words “mark out the system of coordinates within which the Russian authorities intend to act,” the paper says. For them, “the US wants to destroy Russia. De facto this is an enemy” to be opposed rather than someone with whom one can negotiate. The Europeans are less committed to the American position, Patrushev suggests.

“For those who support normal relations with the West, Patrushev’s comments are a warning bell,” the paper continues. They indicate that anti-Westernism and especially anti-Americanism are “not a maneuver but a strategic choice” and that Russia’s conflict with the outside world is reaching “a point of no return.”

The West will respond, “Nezavisimaya gazeta” says. Indeed, it already has. Germany’s defense minister said yesterday that “with Russia it is better to speak ‘from a position of strength.’” Thus, the attitudes of one side lead the attitudes of the other to change and put the two into a dangerous spiral downward.

    War-mongering fascists. Deeper sanctions required.

So the RF citizens know what will happen with them . Complete isolation from the rest of the world, like the Berlin wall, so people can´t go out ! The crash of RF economy, building up a defense against a ghost ennemy. All that for the leaders in Kremlin to stay in power like the urss leaders did for almost 50 years !

    • Michel Cloarec

Sorry for you ! But that represents the highest GDP in the world. The russia you seem to love has the position 50 of 192 countries about countries GDP, even per capita russia is about the same level as Eritrea and Zimbawe ! 22,9 % of RF citizens are living under poverty level and increasing ! If this russian ideology was so great, why is that other countries do not join ? The ex-sovjet countries do not wish to go back !
The coup in 1991 has not ended yet, it continues with putin heir of Jeltsin ! And another will come and in 2115 my great grand children will say “what a stew that land is” Of course if it still exist, and if it does , mandarin will be compulsory language !

Every war-monger needs someone to blame; I guess we (USA) are it for now. Don’t know if more sanctions will work with China in the mix since they’re buying Russian oil and gas which probably is helping the Russian economy. They’re hungry for energy and would sell their own mothers for anything, even nuclear. Plus, they want Transbaikal so who knows where that will go? May you live in interesting times, indeed…

“China is our largest trade and economic partner,” Mr. Putin said. “Our relations are developing very effectively.” One example of the new era of Sino-Russian cooperation is the high-speed rail link that Russia is building to connect Moscow and Kazan, a city about 480 miles due east of the capital. On Thursday, the design unit of state-controlled China Railway Group agreed to partner with two Russian companies to craft a plan for state-controlled Russian Railways to build a rail connection that would reduce the travel time between the two cities to 3½ hours from about 12½ hours.

That will make it just that much easier for the Chinese to transport their military personnel and equipment when they decide to confiscate Russian land.
Sound crazy? See what Russia looks like in 20 years.

The Chinese would never share power with Russia, not even in the role of an “elder” brother. Putin would be nothing more than a puppet. The Chinese middle classes would buy every last scrap of real estate and every dacha with a wood floor and a roof – leaving the Russian peasant class living in dirt-floor hovels throughout the Siberian wastelands

Truthfully, America and the West really do not need Russia. But……Russia cannot survive isolated from the rest of the world. And although they make much of their “new” relationship with China, they are very much afraid of China. The dragon has eyes on all of Siberia, and they are very patient. It will not be many years before Russia has to give in to all of the demands of the dragon.

    • Jack McColley

China and America need each other. America does not need Russia. China does not need Russia. No one needs Russia. Sorry Mr Putin.

China Premier says respects Ukraine integrity, won’t be drawn on Crimea
        BEIJING Sun Mar 15, 2015 5:14am GMT

BEIJING (Reuters) – Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Sunday that his government respected the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, but would not be drawn on whether China considers Crimea to be Ukraine’s or Russia’s.

On the issue of Ukraine, China has adopted an objective and just position. We respect Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Li told a news conference at the end of the annual meeting of parliament, adding that he had recently told this to Ukraine’s president.

At the same time, the Ukraine issue has added to the complexity of the geopolitical situation and has affected the process of the global economic recovery. We still hope that this issue can be resolved via dialogue, negotiations and consultations,” Li added.

“As for Crimea, there are complicated contributing factors. We also hope that it can be resolved politically via dialogue and hope that neighbours can peacefully coexist,” he said, when asked about China’s position on who owns Crimea.

China and Russia see eye-to-eye on many international diplomatic issues, but Beijing has been careful not to be drawn into the struggle between Russia and the West over Ukraine’s future, not wanting to alienate a key ally in Moscow.

It has said it would like to continue to develop “friendly cooperation” with Ukraine, and repeatedly said it respects the ex-Soviet state’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The West mistakes was to believe that Russia could be a civilized country , 24 years after the coup, the tanks of putin are the only diplomatical language like it was in Prague and Budapest, and now in Moldovia, Georgia, Chechnya, and tomorrow in Astrakan, Dagestan and Chechnya again, and Siberian will demand equality and putin will send his tanks again, because that is the only wealth russia has.
