Russo-Ukrainian war, day 1475: Ukraine went from importing almost no weapons to buying more than any country on Earth — in four years flat
Ukraine absorbed nearly 10% of all global arms imports between 2021 and 2025 — up from just 0.1% five years earlier — as at least 36 countries coordinated to replace what Russia tried to destroy, according to a new SIPRI fact sheet. On the same day that data landed, Ukrainian drones destroyed a Russian Tor air defense system in Donetsk Oblast and a Grad rocket launcher in Zaporizhzhia. Hungary, meanwhile, is holding $82 million seized from Ukraine's state bank at gunpoint, with no named suspect in the criminal case it launched to justify keeping the money.
