David Marples

Dr. David R. Marples is Distinguished University Professor, Department of History and Classics, University of Alberta, Canada. He is the author of numerous books and articles on Ukraine and Belarus and has long been considered one of the best Western experts on Belarus. He holds a PhD in Economic and Social History from the University of Sheffield (1985). For summer 2014 he is Visiting Professor at the Slavic and Eurasian Research Center, Hokkaido University, Japan.
