For the first time, Ukrainian companies have been allowed to participate in NATO- and Ukraine-focused defense competitions. This involves Ukrainian expertise in drones and civilian protection, UkrInform reports.
Colonel Valery Vyshnivskyi, the Implementation Director at the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC), has reported that Ukrainian companies are now entering contractual relations with NATO’s Joint Force Transformation Command.
The NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Center was established in Bydgoszcz, northern Poland, in February last year.

“This has become possible, in particular, thanks to the study of the Armed Forces’ experience, the use of strike UAV systems, and expertise in civilian protection,” Vyshnivskyi notes.
According to the JATEC director, in 2026, projects are planned to be funded that focus on the development of UAV systems and the implementation of artificial intelligence to support commanders’ decision-making processes.
CAP TF opens new opportunities
Vyshnivskyi emphasizes that starting this year, several JATEC projects will be financed through the Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine (CAP TF). It provides a qualitatively new level of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO and creates prospects for integrating Ukrainian technologies into Alliance standards.
